Chris Golinski - drummer/composer
Chris began performing at the age of sixteen in Kentucky where he played at various restaurants, cafes, and private events. While studying in Chicago, he was inspired by local musicians such as Fred Anderson, Tim Daisy, and Hamid Drake, and developed an interest in creative music.
Chris currently lives in Brooklyn and continues to perform and record in the NYC area. He is interested in everything from straight-ahead jazz to progressive rock to creative music. Chris leads the group Audible Geometry, which explores the intersection of traditional melodic concepts with textural ideas and indeterminate song forms, as well as a new trio with saxophonist Justin Wood and violinist Mark Chung. He is also the drummer for the rock band Without You I'm Everything.
Inspired by ideas developed at sessions at the Center for Improvised Music in Brooklyn, Chris began composing pieces that serve as a framework for spontaneous improvisation. His pieces seek to trigger various events/textures/interactions within an improvisation that inspire rather than constrain the improviser.
